Chapter Five
Chords
Harmony refers to a harmonic interval in which two or more tones simultaneously. A chord is when two or more tones are played simultaneously.
The most basic manner in which to construct a chord is a triad. A triad is a three note chord. Let us assume that
we wish to build a triad in the key of C, and we will base the triad on the tonic (refer to the previous chapter
if the term "tonic" eludes you).
Thus, we have the following note to begin our chord construction.

The next step is to add a note which is a third above the tonic.

Add a fifth to make the triad complete.

Congratulations, you have constructed your first three note chord (triad).
